During an Instagram live, Diddy invited Dupri to the session and accepted the almost year-long invitation. "JD, if you want that smoke, you can get that smoke anytime," Diddy said to Dupri.

A fan quickly to tweeted a picture of them with the caption, "Diddy & Jermaine Dupri Agree To Face Off In A "Hit For Hit" Battle In Atlanta," and they cannot wait.

'Box With God'

In September 2021, when Dupri challenged Diddy to a rap battle, Diddy replied, "Your arms [are] too short to box with God," and claimed that only Dr. Dre could match him.

This led to the two having a shouting match on Instagram Live. Following this, Dupri went on the Atlanta radio show V-103, "I am in the Songwriters Hall of Fame."

"Puff Daddy's not in the Songwriters Hall Of Fame. Steve Stoute and the Trackmasters are not in the Hall of Fame. I shouldn't have to play nothing. I am in a seat that Puff Daddy can't pay for."

Eventually, in January 2022, Dupri thought the battle would never come to fruition. He voiced this on the New Rory & Mal Podcast. Who would have thought that Diddy was interested in battling it out eventually?

'Verzuz no more'

Diddy, born Sean Combs, emphasized that they won't be battling it out on Verzuz, "Since we ain't f**king with Verzuz no more since 'cause they f**king around with our boys, we don't need to be going against each other."

"Let's come together and do that Bad Boy, So So Def in Atlanta. It ain't no Verzuz, it's just hit for hit," he added. To which Dupri agreed.

As a follow-up, Diddy again went on Instagram to clarify: "We're not f**king with Triller until they take care of Timb and Swizz for Verzuz."

The Verzuz issue Diddy was referencing is the $28 million lawsuit Swizz Beats and Timbaland filed against Triller, the company behind Verzuz.

The veteran music producers claim that the company missed many scheduled payments, reports say.

Swizz Beatz and Timbaland are brains behind the popular rap battle show, Versus, which they sold to Triller. According to TMZ, the two agreed to sell Verzuz in early 2021, but Triller defaulted on the deal after two payments.
