Dave Grohl is one of the music industry's legendary musicians and owning an item that once belonged to him could be an opportunity of a lifetime. Good news for fans as his guitar will be available for purchase in an auction.
According to NME, the Foo Fighters frontman's guitar, the Gretsch White Falcon, is up for sale. The instrument became one of the most iconic pieces in the rock industry as it was previously used on the band's album "The Colour and the Shape."
Grohl isn't the first person to own the instrument as it previously belonged to his good pal Pat Smear.
Aside from the actual piece of history, the guitar is also bundled with a polaroid Smear took of Drew Barrymore playing the piece.
Since it has a rare value, fans should expect the price to be very expensive as it could reportedly sell for £30,000 ($35,488.47).
The price could still exceed once the bidding starts.
Auctioneer Luke Hobbs issued a statement regarding the auction, saying "This a very exciting guitar as it's one of the few owned by Foo Fighters, arguably the biggest current rock band on earth, ever to come to public auction." (via iHeart)
He projected that many people from different parts of the world would be interested in buying the piece as it was prominently featured in Foo Fighters' "Monkey Wrench" music video.
Dave Grohl, Not the First Nirvana Member to Sell Instrument in Auction
In early reports, the late Kurt Cobain's iconic Fender Mustang guitar went past its initial bid as it was sold for millions of dollars in an auction.
Initially, the guitar, which appeared in Nirvana's "Smells LIke Teen Spirit" music video, was projected to sell between $600,000 and $800,000.
However, Indianapolis Colts owner Jim Irsay placed a whopping $2 million bid on the instrument, making him the new owner of the item.
In one of Cobain's final interviews, the legendary musician said the guitar, which came in a Competition Lake placid blue finish, was his favorite out of all guitars in the world.
He also noted that the guitar is high-quality and could be used easily by left-handed people.
The buyer isn't new to collecting pieces of history from the music industry as he owns millions of dollars worth of instruments and memorabilia like Bob Dylan's Stratocaster, George Harrison's Gibson, Gilmour's Black Strat, and many more.
