As rumors regarding Offset's withdrawal from his rap group Migos heats up, the rapper is reportedly in a legal battle against his record label due to copyrights; what happened?

According to Uproxx, the musician filed a lawsuit against Quality Control Music, the record label behind Migos, as he wanted to have rights to his solo music.

Legal documents were filed earlier this week which noted that the rapper negotiated a solo deal with the label's parent company, Motown Records.

However, upon releasing his latest song "5 4 3 2 1," Quality Control claimed the song, and Offset doesn't have the right to his own track. The percentage of its royalties also belonged to the music giant.

The outlet suggested that the rapper doesn't want the same thing to happen to him in the future as he's set to drop another song with Moneybagg Yo later this week.

Not The First Time Offset, Migos Had an Issue with Quality Control Music

In early reports, the rap trio also filed a lawsuit against their former lawyer for a conflict of interest as they believed that he cheated the record label out of millions of dollars.

The lawsuit didn't push through as it got dismissed in 2021. Although the reason for the dismissal was not publicized, the outlet suggested that Migos reached an agreement outside of court.

The record label's CEO, Pierre Thomas, issued a brief statement online after the issue, saying that the last lawsuit was "filed publicly and dismissed quietly... Been to real for all this lame s***. Everyone know the real problem."

Offset quote-retweeted the post to slam the CEO, saying they act like he's the problem despite him paying millions of dollars to get his rights back.

Is Offset Leaving Migos?

Supporters have been speculating about Offset's withdrawal from Migos, especially when he unfollowed his co-members Takeoff and Quavo on Instagram a few weeks ago.

Speculations heated, even more, when the two released their song "Hotel Lobby" without Offset.

As the remaining two members release their own music, the other rapper continued to tease his fans about his solo project and upcoming album.

As of this writing, the trio has not confirmed whether they will disband or not.

Fans started to wonder about Migos' status after they canceled their performance at the Governor's Ball Music Festival earlier this year.

Event organizers addressed the issue, saying the three rappers won't perform due to "circumstances out of control."
