"High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" Season 3 is out now on Disney Plus, and its summer camp-focused arc is turning chilly as they are staging a production of "Frozen: The Musical."
Although Olivia Rodrigo takes a back seat this season because of her commitments, Joshua Bassett, Sofia Wylie, and Matt Cornett are taking the front lead on the star-studded season.
Unpopular to many, the hit-Disney movie "Frozen" is quite different from the Broadway musical - from the volume of songs, its lyrics, and expanded storylines.
In Season 3's latest episode, "The Real Campers of Shallow Lake," the show finally took two songs from the musical to television for a larger audience.
'HSMTMTS' Season 3 Debuts Two' Frozen: The Musical' Songs
Fearing that "HSM" alum Corbin Bleu, who plays himself, would cut off their camp to perform the first-ever high-school production of "Frozen: The Musical" because Camp Shallow Lake was boring and drama-less, the fifth episode of the season stirred up the drama for better television, literally. And just like any other musical television show, what better way to show the drama than a song? Rekindling their old liking for each other, Ricky (Joshua Bassett) and Gina (Sofia Wylie) performed "Frozen's" "What Do You Know About Love."
The song, performed by Anna and Kristoff in the Broadway production, is written exclusively for the musical.
"Chicago Med" star Patty Murin originated Princess Anna's role in the Broadway production alongside NYU alum Jelani Alladin who played Kristoff.
Bassett and Wylie's eyebrow-raising performance have enthused fans of the show online, praising the two for their undeniable chemistry and how the show turned the "Frozen" song into a realization for the two about their bottled-up attraction to each other.
Aside from "What Do You Know About Love," the show's Young Anna and Young Elsa performed "A Little Bit of You," featuring Olaf.
The snow-themed performance was a comical point in the episode, as it featured Carlos (Frankie Rodriguez) throwing a fit at the end of the performance, scaring Aria Brooks (Young Elsa) and Liamani Segura (Young Anna).
Like "What Do You Know About Love," "A Little Bit of You" marks their TV debut on "High School Musical: The Musical: The Series" because it was only included in the Broadway musical.
Meanwhile, the Broadway musical version of "For The First Time in Forever" also made its way in the season's second episode.
