As more details on Kendrick Lamar's forthcoming album roll out, the anticipation grows and judging from reports, KL is pulling out all of the stops this time around.
According to XXL, legendary producer Pete Rock is working on K Dot's highly anticipated sophomore LP.
"Kendrick Lamar, I worked with him on his new album," he said.
During an interview with the magazine, he offered up a few details on the track comparing it to work on Nas' Illmatic.
"I did some scratching and I'm on the hook on one of his songs on his album," the New York producer said. "I'm really excited about that. It's just a regular hook. I can't really sing it to you, you're just going to have to hear it."
Apparently, working with Kendrick Lamar was inevitable as Pete Rock already had ties with Top Dawg Entertainment.
"I met Kendrick through texts actually," Pete Rock said explaining how he came to work with the Compton rapper. "I got his number and [we] had conversations through texts. Me and Ab-Soul were working together. I was already working with [Kendrick's] people. I did a song with ScHooolboy Q and Mac Miller where they took a old jazz beat of mine that I was surprised they used. I've been slowly working with TDE."
In addition to Pete Rock, Kendrick Lamar 's upcoming release may feature production from Cardo.
"I've completed one cut with Kendrick," Cardo said, according to XXL. "It landing on the album is something that we are hopeful for right now."
Back in February, Top Dawg Entertainment's Anthony "Top Dawg" Tiffith hinted to Billboard that K. Dot's LP will be released in September.
