Justin Timberlake and his band The Tennessee Kids dumped buckets of ice water on their heads for a good cause yesterday.
An Instagram video posted by JT himself features and explanation of the activity, which recently began as a way to raise awareness and funds to combat ALS, a "neurodegenerative disease that affects nerve cells in the brain and spinal cord," according to the The ALS Association.
The point of the "ALS Ice Bucket Challenge" is to pour a bucket of ice water over your head (usually at the behest of a challenger) before challenging others to do the same. Donations to the ALS Foundation are encouraged along the way.
The fad has reached stars of all kinds, and Timberlake made sure to keep that trend going by challenging Jimmy Fallon and The Roots.
"You've got 24 hours to donate AT LEAST $100 or douse yourself with ice," Timberlake wrote on Facebook.
