The Weeknd cut his sold-out SoFi Stadium concert after losing his voice in the middle of his performance.
Fans finally reconnected with The Weeknd in his two-night concert at Los Angeles SoFi Stadium. But during his second night, the singer had to cancel the show after suffering a vocal issue.
As shared by Billboard, the "Blinding Lights" hitmaker was performing his "Can't Feel My Face" when he suddenly lost his voice and stopped his performance. He returned onstage to give his fans sad news about the show.
"I can't give you the concert I want to give you. I'm going to make sure everyone's good, gets your money back, and I'll do a show real soon for you guys, but I wanted to come out and personally apologize and not tweet it or Instagram it," he said.
The Weeknd also spoke honestly about not being able to give them the things he wanted to give them.
A video of it has since gone viral, recording how the singer - whose real name is Abel Tesfaye - said that the cancelation "killed him."
After the concert, he took his disappointment online and apologized to his fans once again. In the post, The Weeknd said that he felt devastated by how his voice went out during his first song. He also promised fans to make It up to them with a new date.
The second day's cancelation came as a shock since he completed his Friday night gig at the Los Angeles venue. It remains unknown whether he would also cancel his upcoming concert at Toronto's Rogers Center on September 22 and 23.
Not the First Cancelation
Although it was the first time The Weeknd ever lost his voice during a show, he had already canceled a concert before.
In October 2021, he revealed that the small January 2022 concert would be canceled since he wanted to perform in a bigger stadium. But the "After Hours Til Dawn" stadium trek, unfortunately, got canceled due to a wireless network outage at Toronto's Rogers Center.
Despite that, The Weeknd extended the September show, and it will happen now on two consecutive days this month.
Before the recent incident, the singer was still able to headline the 2022 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. He also joked about performing by the name ABEL, referencing Kanye West's change name to Ye.
