George Harrison had a more worrying reason that led him quit The Beatles.

Amid The Beatles' success, the band members had misunderstandings that made them decide to end their career as a group. But before John Lennon died, Harrison seemingly had a similar vision that caused him to walk out of the band.

After Ringo Starr announced his temporary exit from The Beatles, Harrison followed him by quitting for good. While the tensions within the group played a massive role in his decision, it turned out that he had a more serious thought.

Before Lennon died, he held a press conference in the Philippines where he proclaimed that The Beatles was "bigger and more popular than Jesus." This enraged Christians all over the globe, but it also ignited Harrison's fears of being murdered.

David Acomba, who filmed Harrison's 1974 solo tour, revealed that The Beatles member constantly felt worried that he might be shot to death. During the band's scheduled performance at the LA Dodgers Stadium on Aug. 28, 1966, Harrison's fears intensified when the crowd started to rush to the field to be on the stage.

According to Express UK, Harrison already began to feel worried that he screamed at his security to ask what was happening. He got no response.

The following day, The Beatles held its last live show at Candlestick Park in San Francisco. When they got on the plane, he finally made the announcement and said he was not "a Beatle anymore."

His exit was still expected, though, as his wife revealed that he was already miserable at that time.

"The Beatles made him unhappy with the constant arguments. They were vicious to each other. That was really upsetting, and even more so for him because he had this new spiritual avenue," Patti Boyd said.

Harrison eventually died of cancer in November 2001.

Although he was never shot, his bandmate, John Lennon, faced the tragic event.

John Lennon Was Shot Because of His Statement

Lennon was shot and killed in 1980 while entering a Manhattan apartment building. His obsessed fan, Mark David Chapman, shot him four times at the close range.

He was pronounced dead on arrival. Reports also revealed that he was no longer breathing, but the doctors still tried to revive him for 20 minutes. Unfortunately, he succumbed as the bullets inside his body damaged and shredded his organs.

Just like what Harrison thought, the fan reported killed Lennon as he was enraged by his 1966 statement that the band was "more popular than Jesus."
