Kanye West is yet to cease his social media onslaught on Adidas, accusing the brand of making decisions about Yeezy without his input, reports say.
Aside from that, he also claimed that the brand has been stealing his designs, using them on footwear not included with the Yeezy line.
He has been blasting Adidas' executives, including CEO Kasper Rørsted, Senior Vice President Daniel Cherry III, Creative Director Alasdair Willis, and more on Instagram.
He posted 16 images of Adidas' supervisory board, with varying captions. Some were more cryptic like "sure is positive," "yes," "peace," "great great people [sic]," while some were more direct like "God bless everyone Instagram please don't take down this post I'm simply and kindly bringing light to the fact that Jing Ulrich is on the board of Adidas and JP Morgan Chase. There's [no] reason this post should get flagged."
According to the 45-year-old rapper, Instagram took down his posts about some of the executives, sharing a screenshot of his post violating community guidelines. He captioned it: "The Adidas board had Instagram remove their post off my page and they left Daniel Cherry Pop up there They were using this black man to try to [oversee] the Pharrell project my project along with other projects that I will not mention out of respect."
Adidas' Buyout Attempt
The "Flashing Lights" rapper claims that Adidas is breaching his contract. The contract was supposed to last until 2026, but he already wants nothing to do with the brand. According to Hypebeast, West claimed that the German sportswear brand offered him $1 billion to buy out Yeezy. This was following him blasting the brand on Instagram for allegedly releasing products without his knowledge. "The fact [Adidas] felt they could color my shoes and name them without my approval is really wild," he wrote. "I really care about building something that changes the world and something I can leave to my kids. They tried to buy me out for 1 billion [US] dollars My royalties next year are 500 million [US] dollars alone," he continued.
New Direction
Following this series of events, West went on Instagram to vent about not having control over the shoe company handling his brand. "I need a shoe company like how Jamie Salter bought Reebok, or I'll take over some shoe factories," he wrote. "[...] I need to be head of the board and the chief decision maker."
He then posted a picture of the San Antonio Shoemakers (SAS) on his Instagram with a smiley face caption. This left fans both excited and suspicious of the recent developments in the on-going feud between Adidas and West.
As of this writing, there is no word yet on whether West is really taking over SAS or the status of his contract with Adidas.
