Kanye West, Kim Kardashian Don't Influence Fashion Industry, Says Americas Next Top Model Judge Kelly Cutrone

If you've ever been to a Kanye West show or heard his many interviews, you know that one of his biggest frustrations is having the fashion industry take him seriously. Despite his celebrity and pull as a legendary artist (and his claim that he's as important to fashion as Steve Jobs was to technology), he has never been able to completely break into the fashion world. Now America's Next Top Model judge Kelly Cutrone says 'Ye and his wife Kim Kardashian have little to no influence on the fashion world.

In an interview with NYDailyNews, she said, "I don't think there's one person who really works in the fashion industry who gives a flying f**k about Kanye West."

The same thing goes for his wife.

"The truth of the matter is that Kim Kardashian is not doing anything fresh in fashion, either," she told them. "She's not getting into the nitty-gritty, super avant-garde players. She's not even wearing [Vivienne] Westwood yet."

One of the reasons she believes the couple is unable to effect public style is because most people can't afford to buy designer labels.

"I think they have no influence in the fashion world whatsoever. I mean, most people who watch [Keeping Up with the Kardashians] can't afford Givenchy. I don't mean to be mean."

She continued: "Are [counterfeiters] on Canal St. benefiting from it? Probably, but that's not the fashion world."

All this doesn't mean she thinks the couple isn't important to popular culture.

"Have Kim and Kanye had an impact on pop culture? Absolutely," she said. "Do I think that [Vogue editor-at-large] Hamish Bowles wakes up in the morning, calls [former Vogue editor-at-large] Andre Leon Talley and says, 'Did you see those pants that Kanye was rocking on 'SNL'?' No."

We'll see how West responds to this one.
