Before leading Megadeth, Dave Mustaine was popularly known for being one of the members of Metallica and in a recent interview, he didn't hold back with his personal thoughts regarding his bandmates, saying he did everything when his good pals were labeled as "alpha males."
Speaking to Classic Rock Magazine to promote his current band's new album "The Sick, The Dying... And The Dead!" the singer opened up about his childhood, drug use, and all things music.
Elsewhere in the conversation, interviewer Paul Elliot cited the musician's autobiography "Mustaine: A Heavy Metal Memoir" where he noted that he was the "leader of Metallica."
The interviewer said it was an "odd thing to say" because his bandmates James Hetfield and Lars Ulrich are "such alpha males."
Mustaine disagreed, saying he's the alpha male between the three of them as he "did everything" when he was in the band.
"Why did I have to do everything when I was in the band? Why did they always ask me talk to the promoters and collect the cash? Why was I the one who had to do the fighting? Why did I have to talk in between songs?" he said. (via 107.7 FM WRKR)

Later in the interview, Elliot asked if it was hard for the frontman to talk about his former band, to which he responded with "No."
Mustaine said he doesn't mind because he loves his old pals, in fact, he still keeps in touch with them. He revealed that he messaged Hetfield a few days ago after admitting he was insecure whenever he plays the guitar.
The vocalist said he told his good friend that he loves him and he likes his guitar playing, but Hetfield didn't respond to him, which is fine for Mustaine because the point is he just wants him to know that.
Dave Mustaine Speaks Out About David Ellefson's Exit From Megadeth
A few days ago, Mustaine spoke to Rock 100.5 The KATT where he shared his feelings about David Ellefson's exit from Megadeth after being falsely accused of grooming a minor.
At the time when the allegations made rounds online, the singer said he was "pretty blown away."
He became neutral about the situation, saying he never took anybody's side. However, he ultimately decided that they should take action, leading the band to fire Ellefson from their lineup.
The bassist was replaced by James LoMenzo, a former member of the band who left the group 11 years ago.
