In July, Ricky Martin was involved in a case wherein his nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez Martin, accused him of sexual abuse, however, the case was later dismissed.
Martin is now facing a new case, police spokesperson Edward Ramirez from the police precinct in San Juan, Puerto Rico, said to the Associated Press (AP).
The news wire was able to confirm that the case was filed by none other than Sachez, the very same one who filed the initial case against him.
Sanchez, whose mother is Martin's sister, first filed a restraining order for domestic abuse against the singer in July. According to reports, the singer's camp denied the accusations and noted that they were "completely false and fabricated."
Overlapping Cases
On Sept 7, the 50-year-old singer's legal team filed a lawsuit against his nephew, accusing him of extortion, malicious prosecution, abuse of rights, and damages, People Magazine reports.
Meanwhile, with the new case, the "Livin' la Vid Loca" singer won't be immediately arrested since the police will still investigate further before determining whether the charges are warranted.
Martin's spokesperson Flavia Fernandez told AP that they are yet to issue a public comment as they are still looking into the issue.
However, they also noted that Sanchez's initial suit against the singer has already caused damage to the latter's reputation.
According to AP, the allegations caused at least $10 million worth of contracts and projects, including $20 million in damages to Martin's reputation.
A filing read: "The reckless, malicious and culpable actions by Defendant Sanchez were motivated by the desire to expose Plaintiff to hatred and disdain from his fanbase, to threaten his business opportunities and to destroy his reputation."
Crazy Claims?
Martin's lawyer José Andréu-Fuentes told People Magazine that the claims against the singer are "wildly offensive and completely untethered from reality."
"When this man previously made similar allegations, his legal case had to be withdrawn-not least because he himself admitted under oath that Ricky Martin had never assaulted him in any way," he added.
Andréu-Fuentes alleged that Martin's suit for $20 million caused Sanchez to "spread his lies again."
"It is beyond time that the media stops giving this deeply troubled individual the oxygen of publicity and allows him to get the help he so clearly needs."
The issue stemmed from Martin not following back his nephew on social media, reports say. He also "ignored" Sanchez's requests to make a social media page for Martin's children.
It snowballed from there, and eventually ended up with the case Sanchez filed against his uncle.
