Since Doja Cat is currently on hiatus now due to her health woes, many fans are waiting for her to release new music and it appears that it's going to be released soon as the rapper recently teased her listeners about what her next project would sound like.
Speaking to CR Fashion Book with Matthew M. Williams, the "Say So" songstress revealed the main sound of her next album, saying she's taking inspiration from "90s German rave music."
At the moment, the singer also confirmed that her team is working tirelessly to create the new album and they have many ideas. Their main problem today is "consistent" as they wanted things to go smoothly.
"I can't really tell much. I just know there's a lot going on. I'm very into this '90s German rave kind of vibe right now and it's really fun," she added. (via Nylon Magazine)
Doja Cat's Internet-Breaking Look a Big Part of Her New Music?
Doja Cat divided the internet when she shaved her hair and eyebrows as many fans were happy while others criticized her for her look.
She confirmed to the outlet that presenting herself that way is crucial to her revisiting the sound that she wanted to achieve in her upcoming project.
The singer, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, said she knows that dance music is the most recent trend in the music industry right now, but she loved that as a kid.
However, she couldn't cut her hair off and wear a fuzzy bra during her childhood. Since she could do it today, the rapper said she's embracing her style.
Doja Cat Wants Upcoming Album to be Different From Recent Trends
Since house music has been dominating the industry today, with the likes of Beyoncé releasing "Renaissance" and Drake's "Honestly, Nevermind," Doja Cat wants to be different.
She said she would not follow the trend, but rather let fans hear her vision of rave culture.
"That's kind of a hint to the album, rave culture, not house," she added.
As of this writing, the rapper has not revealed an official album art, tracklist, and release date of her upcoming album.
Doja Cat's next record will be a follow-up to her successful 2021 album "Planet Her" featuring her hit songs "I Don't Do Drugs" with Ariana Grande, "Get Into It (Yuh)", and her Grammy Award-winning collaboration with SZA, "Kiss Me More."
