Michelle Branch accused her husband of three years Patrick Carney of infidelity via social media. The post has now been taken down, but its lasting effects linger on.
However, according to People Magazine, a judge just signed off on the pair's request to suspend their divorce proceedings as they try and work it out for the next six months.
They may undergo counseling during this time, the report added. Once the six months are up, they can decide whether they wish to proceed with the separation or not.
"As evidenced by the signatures below, that the parties, Michelle Jacquet Branch and Patrick James Carney, are seeking a suspension of the divorce proceedings in this cause to effect reconciliation, [sic]" read the document obtained by People Magazine.
"The parties may participate in counseling services to effectuate reconciliation and/or may resume living together as husband and wife and their acts and conduct in doing so shall not be determined condonation of any prior misconduct and all acts or actions by the parties prior to the entry of this order shall remain and constitute grounds for divorce."
Divorce
The "All You Wanted" singer filed for divorce in August in Davidson County, Tennessee, citing irreconcilable differences.
The couple had two kids, Rhys James, and Willie Jacquet. Branch asked to be named the primary residential parent of their children.
The 39-year-old singer was devastated for herself and her family, she said in a statement. "The rug has been completely pulled from underneath me and now I must figure out how to move forward," she added.
Accusations
People caught wind of the couple's marital problems after Branch tweeted, accusing her husband of cheating on her while she stayed at home with Willie. The Tweet has since been deleted.
The decision to have a divorce was sparked by the alleged infidelity, which resulted in Branch allegedly slapping the Black Keys drummer across the face "one or two times," reports say.
Branch was arrested for the domestic dispute, and was released on a $1,000 bond, the Davidson County Sheriff's Office confirmed to People Magazine.
Billboard reported that the case against Branch was later dismissed at the request of the state in August.
The two will attempt to mend their relationship while they continue with their separate schedules, as the "Everywhere" singer embarks on her eight-day tour, which will start in Boston. While Carney will be performing at the iHeartRadio Music Festival on Sept. 23 to 24 and proceeding to Memphis for the Mempho Music Festival on Sept. 30 to Oct. 2.
Branch and Carney got married in April of 2019 at the Marigny Opera House in New Orleans. This is Branch's second marriage, her first was with Teddy Landau; while this is Carney's third marriage. He was previously married to Denise Grollmus and Emily Ward.
