Many fans have been waiting for "I Wanna Dance with Somebody," a biopic that will tell the life story of the legendary Whitney Houston. Recently, the teaser for the highly-anticipated film has finally been released and online users were shocked with the lead actress.

According to CNN Entertainment, actress Naomi Ackie will be portraying the "I Will Always Love You" songstress in the film. She's popularly known for previously starring in "Doctor Who" and "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker."

The two-minute clip featured some of the biggest highlights in the singer's decades-long career including performing in front of thousands of people at the Super Bowl to sing her rendition of "Star Spangled Banner."

Co-produced by Clive Davis, the biopic's official synopsis explained that Houston started as a choir girl in New Jersey before shooting to fame as "one of the best-selling and most awarded recording artists of all time."

Davis is also featured in the movie as his character is being played by Stanley Tucci ("The Devil Wears Prada").

"I Wanna Dance with Somebody" will be featuring some of the greatest hits of the late singer as well as a re-enactment of the hardships she experienced throughout her life.

Anthony McCarten ("Bohemian Rhapsody") writes the film as Kasi Lemmons serves as the director. The movie will hit theaters on December 21.

Fans Shocked With Naomi Ackie's Transformation

After the video was posted on YouTube on Thursday, many fans immediately bombarded the comment section to express their excitement as well as their thoughts on Naomi Ackie playing the role.

"I don't know much about Naomi Ackie, but seeing how she embodies in this powerful performance of Whitney Houston. The truth is that she is very talented and has a magnificent voice," one wrote.

"Say what you want but Naomi Ackie looks stellar as Whitney Houston," another one wrote.

Many old fans also shared their thoughts about the movie, saying they're in tears because Houston means a lot to them.

In an interview with NME, Ackie opened up about auditioning for the role, revealing that she was working on the set of "The Score" when she was told about the try-outs.

Recalling her conversation with Will Poulter, the actress said auditioning for the movie is "insane" and she initially doubted herself because she was not sure if she was going to try it because she has an "intense stage fright," especially when singing in front of a crowd.
