Tristania officially bid goodbye to fans.
Tristania, a renowned gothic metal band, announced its disbandment 26 years after its debut through an emotional statement. On its official Facebook page, the band uploaded the photo with the text "Tristania is no more."
The picture contained a lengthy message from the band as the members decided to split after more than two decades of performing together.
"Last week came the news about a serious medical situation in near family within the band, which will make it impossible to pursue both short and long-term plans with the band. This came as a shock to us, and we are truly sorry to share this," the statement continued.
Tristania recalled being a band that never compromised in their art that it always showed 100 percent of its capacity to its fans and followers.
Despite ending their journey, it expressed how thankful the band is to everyone who worked with them in the past - from recording, writing music, releasing albums and songs, and touring.
The members then thanked their fans for being their inspiration to continue working as a band for 26 years. At the same time, they apologized to everyone who would be affected by their split.
Singer Mariangela Demurtas, who joined Tristania in 2007, also shared the statement saying that the news was not a good one for everyone and that it was not an easy post for the members.
Following the announcement, its fans shared their heartbreaks online but still sent the members well wishes on their individual projects and plans.
Tristania's Legacy
The famed gothic metal band was formed in 1996 with its pioneer members, Morten Veland, Einar Moen, and Kenneth Olsson. The trio completed the band's lineup by adding Anders Hoyvik Hidle, Rune Osterhus, and Vibeke Sten to the group.
In 1998, it officially signed with Napalm Records and released its first-ever album, "Widow's Weeds." From there, it took a massive step in the industry and even collaborated with several singers, including Morten Veland and Østen Bergøy.
When it announced its disbandment, only Hidle and Moen became the only founding members to stay in the group until the end.
Although they did not release any albums after the 2013's "Darkest White," Tristania still reconnected with its fans through shows and performances, holding its last concert in 2019.
