LL Cool J seemed to be losing his cool when he got a hold of DJ Akademiks' comments on hip-hop legends over on Twitch.
DJ Akademiks, a notable internet personality who is very well in touch with current hip-hop artists and rappers, recently dished out his usual fact-bomb unapologetically.
According to Akademiks, so-called hip-hop legends have become so "dusty" over time that new rappers emerged to become better than the OGs.
"Them old rappers, man. Have you seen any of these old rappers who be like, yo, they're the foundation of Hip Hop really living good?Them n--s be looking really dusty, I kid you not. And none of y'all try to come for me 'cause I don't f-k with y'all n--s either, so I'm just telling y'all the truth ... Every time there be like an old, old n--s talking about hip-hop, you be like, 'Yo, bro. You sure you invented this? 'Cause everybody else is looking better than you.' Facts," Akademiks told his followers on his Twitch channel.
Well, apparently, his scathing comments did not sit well with LL Cool J, widely considered one of the forefathers of hip-hop music.
In an Instagram post, the "Bigger and Deffer" hitmaker clap backed on DJ Akademiks, saying that just because someone fails to get the money, does not mean they did not get to make a substantial contribution to the culture.
LL Cool J further pointed out that back then, rappers were not given the chance to hire someone to talk about their 5-year-plans, unlike today when rappers could easily get it.
"When hip-hop first started, there were no managers, there were no accountants that believed in it. Record companies didn't even believe in it. Nobody believed in it. How can you make a five-year plan or a 10-year plan on something that doesn't even exist yet?" he argued.
Meanwhile, other veteran rappers like MC Sha-Rock were similarly offended by Ak's scathing remarks.
"It's true that we didn't receive the fruits of labor. However, it does not negate from the billion dollar business that we'd created for future men, women and youth to prosper from," she told HipHopDX.
Scorpio, one of the members of the Grandmaster Flash and The Furious Five, is also irked at DJ Akademik's "dusty" comments. According to him, the comments hurt him to the core, saying that Ak was disrespecting them like they did nothing to the industry when in fact it was actually built behind their backs.
Since his comments on Twitch, DJ Akademiks has not yet followed up on his comments nor issued any apology to anyone, but he has posted a series of videos and images already on his Instagram account.
