New and long-time fans of several music legends - like Freddie Mercury, John Lennon, and Elvis Presley - got to see the "present versions" of the singers through the viral AI photos.
Music fans nowadays still listen to the songs released in the 1950s to 1990s despite the emergence of new genres and songs. Despite having singers and performers these days, they could not help but wonder what the music industry would be if the legends were still alive.
Istanbul-based artist, Alper Yesitas, found a way to reintroduce these singers to the current generation, transforming their old photos into their supposed current images if they were still alive.
On the artist's Instagram account, he started the "As If Nothing Happened" project to show Mercury, Presley, MJ, and more singers' looks through Artificial Intelligence.
His first project features Jackson, who died in 2009.
"I would like to share with you the first piece of my AI-based project called "As if nothing happened." Behind this project lies the question of "how would people look if some great events had not happened to them". I look forward to your feedback and suggestions," he captioned his post.
Yesitas also created AI photos of Presley, Mercury, Lennon, Jimi Hendrix, Curt Cobain, Heath Ledger, and more.
On the BoredPanda website, the artist himself published the article "'As If Nothing Happened': I Used Artificial Intelligence To See How Some Celebrities Would Look Today If They Were Alive (10 Pics)."
On the page, he explained that the project aims to answer the question, "how would people look photo-realistically if some great events had not happened to them."
The Day the World Lost the Great Musicians
Through the project, Yesitas managed to show everyone how the singers would still be happy performing if their deaths did not happen.
Mercury died in 1991 following his battle against AIDS. Meanwhile, Presley died on Aug. 16, 1977, at 1:30 p.m, inside his Memphis mansion due to a heart attack likely worsened by his addiction to prescription barbiturates.
The King of Pop, on the other hand, succumbed after he was found unresponsive in his LA home. The responders tried to resuscitate him while rushing him to a hospital. However, he died upon his arrival at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center, with investigators later concluding his death as a homicide.
