After rejecting all warnings and traveling to Russia for a contentious concert, rapper 6ix9ine - formerly known as Tekashi 69 - had some harsh words for imprisoned former basketball player Brittney Griner. Seeing how so many want Griner back home - the government, and even some music personalities - what 6ix9ine is saying now can be quite frustrating.

But then, the rapper is not known for being nice.

In a video posted to social media immediately after arriving in the country, the musician inebriatedly insulted the professional athlete.

In the clip, the rapper could be seen socializing in a city plaza and interacting with fans while wearing black lounge trousers, a matching hoodie, and matching sunglasses. "You know we out here," he said. "Sh-t is crazy," he added, before leaning in closer to the camera and inexplicably whispering, "f--k Brittney Griner."

As the clip circulated on the Internet, 6ix9ine refused to retract his criticism of the troubled athlete.

"I'm not gonna lie I was drunk .. but I stand on that .. I'm in Russia while y'all scared to come here... argue with yourself smd I'm like that," he wrote on Sunday, September 25. "Just remember I'm still alive while your favorite rapper is dead I'll be mad too."

The WNBA player was arrested and sentenced to nine years in a Russian prison for narcotics possession and smuggling after being captured with illicit vape cartridges containing hashish oil.

Griner pleaded guilty to the charges, despite the fact that she said she had been prescribed medical marijuana in the United States to fight her chronic pain and that she was unaware she was breaking the law.

President Joe Biden issued a statement in support of Griner following her punishment, saying the government's efforts to secure her release will continue on until it achieves the goal.

Unfortunately, even after seven months, she remains in custody in Russia. Despite U.S. government efforts, her situation has not improved.

The most current WNBA season has finished, with the Las Vegas Aces claiming the championship. Griner also missed the entire season.

Nevertheless, the players have demonstrated their strong support for the towering center.

It was made clear by the WNBA players that they are boycotting the Russian league, and are exploring alternative options for the off-season. Breanna Stewart of UMMC Ekaterinburg announced that she will play for the Turkish club Fenerbahce.
