Taylor Hawkins' presence was felt throughout the six-hour second tribute concert for him in Los Angeles organized by his Foo Fighters bandmates and family. Opening the show, Dave Grohl shared a heartwarming message as he had a request for fans.
According to E! Online, the second show was held at the Kia Forum in California where it was attended by thousands of concertgoers.
The six-hour set was composed of performances by dozens of musicians like Joan Jett and Blink 182 drummer Travis Barker's renditions of "Cherry Bomb" and "Bad Reputation," Miley Cyrus and Joe Elliot for the song "Photograph," Pink along with Brian May and Roger Taylor's version of "Somebody to Love" and many more.
Upon opening the show, Grohl had an emotional speech, saying Los Angeles is their hometown and he wanted fans to make it "loud and turn it up."
He added that his late pal has the ability to make fans "f****** smile and dance and laugh and sing."
Another notable performance was Brian May's acoustic version of "Love my Life," originally sung by Freddie Mercury. It was reportedly Hawkins' wife's request. (via USA Today)
Los Angeles Tribute Show 'Rocks Harder' Compared to London Says Dave Grohl
After witnessing 53 songs over the span of six hours, Foo Fighters closed the show with a 12-song set in collaboration with drummers like Hawkins' son Shane Hawkins and comedian Dave Chappelle.
Upon closing the show, Grohl addressed the crowd, saying, "I have to say, this concert compared to the London concert, this f--king rocks harder."
The band along with dozens of artists performed earlier this month at the Wembley Stadium for the first tribute show dedicated to the late drummer.
Several musicians and family members performed over 50 songs that lasted for six hours.
On March 25, a devastating news shocked the music industry as Taylor Hawkins was found dead in his hotel room in Bogota, Colombia. Foo Fighters was scheduled to play at Bogotá's Festival Estéro Picnic that day.
As of this writing, the official cause of death of the drummer is yet to be publicized, but initial toxicology reports found traces of multiple substances in his blood like tricyclic antidepressants, THC, opioids, and many more.
Following this, Foo Fighters canceled the rest of their scheduled tour dates and festival appearances.
