Earlier this year, Christina Aguilera released her second Spanish-language album titled "Aguilera" and it's all about celebrating her roots. In a recent interview, the singer revealed that she was also inspired during her early days in the music industry.

Speaking to HOLA! Magazine, the "Reflection" songstress embraced her heritage, saying she's proud to be an Aguilera despite the many times people in the industry try to take it away from her.

She noted that there were record executives who wanted her to drop her last name. Initially, she wasn't happy with the suggestion and revealed that Aguilera has been butchered many times before.

"Something that I really embody and understand is that, you know, this is a name that has been tried to be taken away from me on numerous occasions coming up in this business," she said. (via Huffpost)

In addition, she never named the said music executives who suggested the idea as she'd rather keep the "bad names" that were given to her.

Christina Aguilera Kept Her Last Name; Here's Why

The reason why she wanted to keep her last name was that she's proud of where she came from.

"My father being from Ecuador, why not come full circle in all of the chapters and close it on a name, my name," she said.

Aguilera's last name didn't matter in the industry as she dominated the music scene after debuting her self-titled album in 1999.

Her songs "Genie In A Bottle" and "What A Girl Wants" also topped the charts at the time.

In January this year, she also dropped a Spanish EP titled "La Fuerza" featuring six new songs that jumped from one genre to another as the tracklist was a combination of span pop, reggaetón, and ranchera. (via Rolling Stone)

The EP also featured some of her fellow Latina artists like Becky G, Nicki Nicole, and Nathy Peluso.

Christina Aguilera's recent Spanish album amassed massive success and positive reviews. The record also received two nominations at the 2022 Latin Grammys.

The singer recently dropped a new song titled "No Es Que Te Extrañe" which is expected to be on the third installment of "Aguilera."
