In the past few years, Taylor Swift has been very vocal about her issues with Scooter Braun, who acquired her master recordings from another label without her information.

Now, Scooter Braun has opened up about these issues again, but he has seemed to be shifted his tone about his previous actions. This time he elaborates more on the conscious decision that he made before the acquisition.

Scooter Braun Speaks Out About Taylor Swift Masters Issue

Speaking to NPR's "The Limits With Jay Williams," Scooter Braun offered a more elaborate explanation of what happened on Taylor Swift's master recordings sale.

In the podcast interview, Scooter Braun revealed that if he was to go back to that point again in time and was asked to take another path, he would have definitely chosen a different course of action.

He went on to explain that at the time, when he acquired Taylor Swift's master recordings from Big Machine without Taylor Swift knowing, he was actually under a "very strict NDA" with the owner of the company and that he was under agreement that he could not tell any artist about the sale.

In 2019, Braun acquired Big Machine Records Label, along with Taylor Swift's entire music catalog for $300 million. But after many public denouncements about it, Braun sold Taylor Swift's masters in 2020, marking the start of the popstar to re-record her albums.

"Fearless (Taylor's Version)" and "Red (Taylor's Version)" was already re-recorded, but her remaining four Big Machine albums have yet to be recorded - "1989," "Taylor Swift," "Speak Now" and "Reputation."

According to Billboard, Scooter was not allowed to communicate with any of the artists involved in the sale while the sale is in the process of negotiation.

The reflection on his past actions came after he sold his company to HYBE, BTS' original company. Realizing the decisions he made prior, it would seem like Braun has turned over a new leaf. He made it a point to involve everyone, even if they do not work for him anymore, and let them participate and take a proper share of the deal.

As for Taylor Swift, she has yet to re-record the rest of her Big Machine albums while her newest record, "Midnights," hits the stands and streaming services on Oct. 21, 2022.
