Country music icon Naomi Judd passed away earlier this year after she took her own life - citing reasons of deteriorating mental health as one of the reasons that led her to do the unthinkable.

While her remaining family members try to move forward on the tragic end of the matriarch, the court and police have still continued the investigations on the actual matter.

In a new release, the Tenessee High Court, the legal body responsible for the management of the investigation has signified their next step in the high-profile case.

According to Billboard, the state Supreme court sent the entire investigation back to the lower court for another hearing about the case.

What Is Happening in the Naomi Judd Case Investigation?

Last August 31, Willamson County Chancellor Joseph Woodruff struck the request for an injunction to keep the records private and off on public's eye while the family pursues a legal case against the police force handling the investigation of their mother's death.

In a New York Times article, Ashley Judd revealed that she felt that their mother's case was mishandled by the police force. She noted in the opinion piece that police have invaded their privacy while they continue to grasp the death of their mother.

"I felt cornered and powerless as law enforcement officers began questioning me while the last of my mother's life was fading. The men who were present left us feeling stripped of any sensitive boundary, interrogated and, in my case, as if I was a possible suspect in my mother's suicide." Ashley admitted.

They filed an injunction to have the police records, including video footage of the response, be kept away. However, Chancellor Woodruff ruled that it was not an exception to the Public Records Act and ruled against the Judds.

The Tennessee State Supreme court sent the case back to the Chancery Court for another hearing, as they pointed out that the chancellor should not have ruled the family's request without a full hearing.

Ashley, the youngest daughter of music icon Naomi Judd, described the death of her mom as "the most shattering day of my life" as she was the one to discover her mom's remains. (via Hello Magazine)
