"Bad Habits" soars to No. 1 this week on the Billboard Hot 100 charts, marking Steve Lacy's first-ever #1 hit on the coveted singles chart in the United States.
The track had a steady uptick in the past few weeks. Initially opening at the edge of the Hot 100 charts at No. 100, the song made a slow rocket to the top until it held the No. 2 spot for the past four weeks, just behind Harry Styles' record-breaking single "As It Was."
Steve Lacy is now one of the few artists who have debuted on the charts for the first time and eventually peaked at No. 1 throughout their chart stay. He is following the lead of Glass Animals with their hit song "Heat Waves," and the Encanto Cast with "We Don't Talk About Bruno" this year.
According to Billboard, "Bad Habits" generated 40.3 million airplay impressions, around 20.4 million streams, and 2,000 downloads on last week's tracking schedule.
With the surprising overtake, this puts Harry Styles' "As It Was" at the second spot - delaying Styles' expected 16-week rule at the top on hold for another week. Last week, the single had its 15th nonconsecutive week at the top of the charts.
Debuting at No. 3 is Sam Smith and Kim Petras' much-awaited single "Unholy." The Top 10 charts are no stranger to Sam Smith as he has previously topped it with his previous tracks. For Petras, it's a different ball game, as "Unholy" becomes her first-ever Billboard Hot 100 entry.
Post Malone and Doja Cat's "I Like You (A Happier Song)" descends to No. 4 after its No. 3 peak last week, while Nicky You're and dazy's "Sunroof" is now at No. 5. Nicki Minaj's "Super Freaky Girl" returned to No. 6 while concurrently leading the Hot Rap Songs Charts for an unprecedented seventh week.
OneRepublic's "I Ain't Worried" steadies the fort at No. 7 while Morgan Wallen's "You Proof" dips to No. 8.
Cardi B and GloRilla's "Tomorrow 2" debuts at No. 9, scoring Cardi B's newest Top 10 track. Rounding up the Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 is Lizzo's "About Damn Time," which peaked at No. 1 a few weeks ago, after a huge skyrocket because of TikTok.
