Earlier this week, Doja Cat graced Paris Fashion Week and turned heads with her newly shaved head and a gold face-literally. The new look brought about mixed reactions from fans and critics alike.
A Twitter user took to Twitter to share their thoughts regarding the shocking new look, "this paint is making her look ugly. When you do makeup like this, you still need to accentuate features. She looks like a tired old statue, LMAO."
Doja was not having any of it, reports say. In the name of art and fashion, she defended her look, "I wasn't trying to look sexy or attractive."
"All of my makeup has a story and there are absolutely 0 rules and if there were, you wouldn't be the one making them."
She shared a screenshot of her reply, and tweeted the picture, captioning it "Twitter will not let me reply so I will post a screenshot."
Bold Looks
Doja, born Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, is known for sporting various looks and aesthetics. She was also seen sporting a bold look on Oct. 1 as attended the Monot show. Doja's face was painted white and sculpted with a metallic blue. She wore a red lip and mascara, overall, it was a look that spoke volumes of how seriously she took the art of makeup and fashion, reports say.
Her makeup artist, Laurel Charleston, praised the rapper for her dedication and appreciation of the art of makeup. "Getting to work and create with someone who respects me and my art so much has no doubt changed how I see myself as an artist," she wrote on Instagram.
"I have so much gratitude for the brilliant, creative and passionate person she is."
Last August, she took to Instagram to debut her shaved head. As she is known for rocking different hairstyles and wigs throughout 2020 and 2021, she has finally decided enough was enough, and finally shaved off her head. Several fans expressed their concern, wondering if she was having a mental health breakdown, especially as she began shaving her eyebrows off during the Live.
For Doja, her style and appearance are the last of her problems. She shut down the comments regarding her appearance once before, "I won a Grammy and traveled the f**king globe I've had a No. 1 and I went platinum,"
"I make hit after hit after hit and you all want me to look f**kable for you [...] Go f**k yourselves."
