Harry Styles will miss the European premiere of his new film" My Policeman" owing to a tour conflict. But some are speculating that he was really not keen to be seen anywhere near events featuring the movie because his acting was criticized here.
Due to a tour stop in Chicago, the 28-year-old actor-singer will be unable to join his co-stars, including The Crown's Emma Corrin, 26, and David Dawson, 40, at the BFI London Film Festival next week. "My Policeman," based on the novel by Bethan Roberts, debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival last month. Harry attended the red carpet and screening, but had to leave mid-standing ovation to catch a flight for another music performance.
A source close to Harry stated that he's devastated, but he doesn't want to disappoint his Chicago fans. Harry's participation in "My Policeman" means the world to him, and his attendance at the London premiere would have been incredibly memorable.
However, music will always be his top focus, and he is determined to performing at every Love On Tour event. Fans who attended the Special Presentation of My Policeman at the London Film Festival on Saturday, October 15 paid £16 per ticket; however, Harry's presence was never guaranteed. Critics have deemed the former One Direction member's portrayal of police officer Tom as quite tepid and blank for the lead performance and have dubbed him "awkward" in the role.
"My Policeman," which opens in theaters on 21 October and on Prime Video on 4 November, is set in 1950s Brighton and centers on a love triangle between Tom, Marion, and Patrick. Tom (Emma Corrin) begins to develop love for Marion's (Emma Corrin) best friend Patrick (David Dawson).

As Tom and Patrick become closer, and at a period when being gay was still illegal, their hidden romance strains the relationship between the other two members of the group. Harry was recently criticized for remarks he made about the film in an interview with Rolling Stone, in which he stated that the movie is not really about the community, but about the love and the wasted time.
The LGBT+ community believed the singer's comments were an attempt to downplay the film's queerness and were evocative of the era in which the film was set. "My Policeman" is Harry's second Hollywood picture in a leading role, following Don't Worry Darling, in which he co-starred with Florence Pugh and Olivia Wilde, the director's girlfriend.
In contrast to "My Policeman", which has largely flown under the radar, "Don't Worry Darling" made headlines after Florence battled with film boss Olivia over her on-set romance with Harry.
