Just a couple of months after releasing his fourth studio album, "The Last Slimeto," NBA YoungBoy is gearing up once again for another album, but this time he is not doing it alone.
YoungBoy's engineer, Jason "Cheese" Goldberg, went on Instagram to share the exciting news.
"Calling all Baton Rouge artists," he said. "I just got word from Top, he wants to drop a tape with all of you guys on there. No matter who you are, if you're from Baton Rouge try to get a hold of me."
Apparently, the criteria to be on the collaborative album are not too steep. Perhaps YoungBoy did it on purpose to be more inclusive of the artists from his hometown of Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
"Send the info. Everybody that knows me, send their info. Let's put together a project of everybody from out there."
The Baton Rouge native is vocal about being proud of his roots, and now he is taking a step further by giving his fellow Baton Rouge artists a chance at stardom.
"Top wants to promote it. Top wants to get on two songs with the fans' help. So get at me," Cheese continued.
YoungBoy has made it his mission to always add a piece of his culture and hometown in his music and artistry.
In his recently released album, "3800 Degrees," he used cover art inspired by Louisiana artist Juveline's a;bum, "400 Degreez," reports say.
Fans React
The announcement brought a wave of mixed reactions from fans on Twitter.
"This man not playing with y'all. N***a finna drop [six] maybe [seven] tapes in a year," a fan wrote with a goat emoji, referring to the acronym "greatest of all time."
"Real goat man. Nothing like this guy in the rap game today," another tweeted.
Meanwhile, some fans are less enthusiastic, "we don't want the Louisiana type of rap mane wdf, [sic]" a twitter user wrote.
"This is becoming overwhelming," a fan wrote.
"That n***a lyn YB can't even put them on all there [too] much beef," another tweeted.
YoungBoy, born Kentrell DeSean Gaulden, slowly but steadily rose to prominence in 2015 by releasing mixed tapes that earned him a solid fanbase.
In 2017, he signed to Atlantic Records and released "Outside Today," off his debut studio album "Until Death Call My Name," released the following year. He gained traction with fans as his single and album peaked at number 31 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number seven on the US Billboard 200 charts.
