Early 2000s R&B fans are in for a treat. Ciara just revealed the inspiration behind her upcoming album, and it will be heavy on the R&B genre.
"From my perspective as an artist, I feel like it's closest to my first album," she told Allure Magazine. "It's a lot of bass. There's a strong R&B core, which is also really fun."
In another interview, with Apple Music, the 36-year-old said, "I got a super R&B, hardcore R&B in the center of this album."
Ciara rose to prominence in 2004 after the release of her debut studio album "Goodies." The single of the same title itself peaked on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
R&B fans know her as not just a singer and songwriter, but also as a phenomenal dancer. Her songs were constantly played in clubs and bars, especially her hit song with Missy Elliot "1, 2 Step" and "Oh" featuring Ludacris.
Comeback
According to Allure, songs off her debut album doubled as dance tracks would perform very well on today's social media platforms.
This upcoming album would mark her comeback into the music scene, as her last release was over three years ago with "Beauty Marks."
She has released several albums between her debut and 2019, including "The Evolution" in 2006, "Fantasy Ride' in 2009, "Ciara" in 2013, and "Jackie" in 2015.
2022 saw a new side to Ciara as she entered a new era. She signed with Republic Records and Uptown Records with a new record deal. This was done in partnership with Beauty Marks Entertainment, her own label.
Earlier this month, she dropped "Better Thangs" featuring Summer Walker.
Walker also featured Ciara on her album with the song "Ciara's Prayer," released in 2021.
"Now, I will say this: I ain't just have one prayer that I prayed when I was going through some things. I had many a night where I prayed, but I looked at it as a sweet opportunity to spread love and hopefully inspire people and pour some positivity into their hearts as they listen to it and to speak life," she said about the song.
Busy
Despite not being active in the music scene, Ciara has been busy with other things. In 2020, she gave birth to her son, Win, the younger brother of her older son, Future.
She eventually found love with American football player Russell Wilson.
