Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys Inducted Into Texas Country Music Hall of Fame

Congratulations to Duane Allen of the Oak Ridge Boys for a major career accomplishment.

Country Weekly reports that the group's lead vocalist was recently inducted into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame.

The magazine's site also reports that Allen was named an honorary admiral in the Texas Navy by Governor Rick Perry during the ceremony.

It all reportedly took place Saturday (Aug. 9) in Carthage, Texas.

In addition to the award he was given as a keepsake, new exhibit devoted to Allen's life and career was unveiled inside the Hall of Fame museum.

Allen told the magazine he had no clue which of his items would be featured. His wife and manager supplied all of the memorabilia for the exhibit.

"I am still in the after-glow of a very overwhelming event in my life," Allen said. "It is a huge honor, and I am humbled to the core of my soul with this induction. My first emotional moment was when I walked into the Texas Country Music Hall of Fame. Less than a few feet inside, I had to just stop and gather my feelings. Every emotional fiber of my body was saying, 'wow.' Then, I was walked around to my exhibit. I had no idea what would be there. I'd requested that it be a total surprise, and it was my wife, Norah Lee, Kathy Harris, in our office, and Jim Halsey, our manager, who supplied all of the memories for my exhibit. Rusty Summerville organized all of the items. I was emotionally overcome when I saw it all."

Allen joins the likes of George Jones, Mickey Gilley, Moe Bandy, Ray Winkler and Al Dexter.

According to CW, the other three Oak Ridge members shared the spotlight, as they were proclaimed Honorary Texans during the ceremony.

The quartet also gave a special performance to mark the occasion.
