Adam Lambert guested on "The Jennifer Hudson Show" on Oct. 19 and performed "Nessun dorma," Lambert and Hudson showed off their vocal prowess, and looked back on their "American Idol" Days.
The 41-year-old singer showed her audience a couple of pictures from her personal collection, which were two pictures from the time she just got eliminated from "American Idol" and the tour following the show.
In line with her walk down memory lane, she welcomed fellow "American Idol" contestant, Lambert, to the show.
"Like Randy Jackson said, there are worst two moments in 'American Idol' history that he really felt shocked at-when I was eliminated, and when this singer didn't win," she said as she began her introductions.
Hudson joined the 3rd season of "American Idol," and placed 7th, while Lambert placed 2nd on the 8th season of the singing competition show, reports say.
The pair's performance of "Nessun dorma" was accompanied by former "American Idol" pianist Michael Orland. The fan-favorite song is from "Turandot," a classic opera by Giacomo Puccini.
"I took opera in high school for like a year. It's like for a dancer to take ballet - it's really good training. It was very educational, and that was there, and I left it there," Lambert revealed. However, clearly his training in opera paid off and is still prevalent in his singing.
'Fate, right?'
Despite not winning "American Idol," Lambert and Hudson have both grown and expanded their horizons since then.
"Neither one of us won 'American Idol,'" the talk show host said, "and look at us now. Do you see where we are? We're doing alright."
Alright is an understatement. The pair are arguably the most successful out of the roster of contestants from the show.
Hudson recently earned her EGOT status following her Tony Awards win for the musical "A Strange Loop."
Meanwhile, Lambert released several critically-acclaimed albums. He is now reportedly working on his first musical, which is slated for release in late 2023 or early 2024.
Ironically, Lambert revealed that he auditioned for "American Idol" with Freddie Mercury's "Bohemian Rhapsody," which got him through auditions.
"You know if I haven't sung that, I don't know if I would be having been on tour with them for the past 10 years," he said.
"Fate, right? You have to plant the seeds," he added. "Sometimes fate needs a little help."
Hudson also shared her fateful experience, "that's another thing we have in common!"
"Because my 'American Idol' audition song was 'Share Your Love With Me' by Arethra Franklin, and I ended up playing with Arethra Franklin-and you a part of the crew."
