Many fans and musicians were saddened after the news of Loretta Lynn's death made rounds online. To recognize her decades-long success and contribution to the country music industry, this year's CMA Awards will be paying tribute to the late singer.
According to Fox News, the legendary singer, who passed away at the age of 90, entered the music scene in 1971. Her song "Coal Miner's Daughter" became one of the most iconic songs of her career.
Her fame skyrocketed from there as she won the CMA Award for female vocalist thrice, in 1967, 1972, and 1973. Other tracks from her catalog that became iconic were "Somebody Somewhere," "One's On the Way," and "Don't Come Home a-Drinkin."
In early reports, her publicist and family confirmed the death in a statement to Rolling Stone, saying she passed away peacefully in her sleep in the morning of October 4 at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, Tennessee.
Although her cause of death was not given, many people speculated that the singer died due to health issues that she suffered from over the past years.
In 2016, Lynn quit touring after a fall that left her unable to perform. Her doctor required her to recover from the incident.
The following year, she was hospitalized after suffering a stroke but was able to recover after the health woe.
