A feud seemed to be hitting off on Twitter after Britney Spears posted a rather scathing and obvious statement about another pop star.

Yesterday, the pop icon posted two selfies of her in a red bikini, showcasing her toned body and messy blonde hair. While the photo seemed harmless, the caption was the other way around.

"Don't you just love the nerve of women who stand firmly getting awards and speak on their beliefs about not showing their bodies on instagram ???!!!!! They say "This is NOT something I would do yet those women are the very ones who get 4 million dollar budget videos made about sucking and licking on homemade ice cream ÷ !!!! These other girls have nothing but beautiful bodies !!!! Who cares if the flaunt it ??? THEY SHOULD !!! So the next time I see someone with a big budget video sucking on lollipops © yet giving righteous speeches shaming other women for exposing their bodies, I would like to tell those people don't be a hypocrite as you suck on your lollipop having HUGE budget dreams ... why would you stand firmly against girls getting attention JUST LIKE YOU and they have absolutely nothing????" Spears posted at the time.

Seemingly, fans think Britney is firing against Selena Gomez, who in 2016 gave a moving speech at the American Music Awards about women empowerment. Spears seemed to be sniping on Selena's recent collaboration with BLACKPINK, titled "Ice Cream."

It was not revealed what prompted Spears to post such scathing comments about Selena, who was actually among the few invited guests to her exclusive wedding earlier this year.

After her post, Britney was met with a mountain of backlash, criticizing her and defending Selena on her behalf.

"selena has shown nothing but love and support for you throughout the years and in return she gets weekly shady instagram posts from you.. check yourself girl," a user commented.

"what's wrong with you ?? i used to adore you and respect you a lot and so does Selena - speechless," another posted.

Not more than a day after her post, Britney recanted her long statement on Instagram and changed it to three rose emojis.

However, one user on Twitter pointed out that maybe it was about Meghan Trainor, who recently released a lollipop and ice cream-themed Candyland music video. Trainor was reportedly working with Lou Traylor, one of the many to blame for Britney Spear's controversial conservatorship.

As of this writing, neither Gomez nor Spears have spoken out on the issue.
