It seems like music runs in Lorde's family as her little sister, Indy Yellich, is making her way into the mainstream music scene by being a recording artist on her own.
It all began when she released her debut single last month titled "Threads," and little did fans know that she's been secretly working on creating music for the past four years.
Today, the singer is back with a brand new single titled "Killer" and she explained the deep meaning behind the track.
"'Killer' is about the different sides of myself; anxiety ridden, self sabotaging and the bold, cheeky side," she said in a statement. (via NME)
Recalling how the song came to fruition, Indy said she was on her way to Diplo's house for a recording session. However, she had an anxiety attack which caused her to be late.
In the car, the singer remembered looking in the mirror and feeling "inferior, red hot with frustration."
She added that her latest single is about "embracing being your own worst enemy, embracing the anxiety" and it's her way of expressing her own frustration.
The song was released along with a visualizer directed by Jones Crow and Max Movish.
One of the directors explained how Indy is a "complex innocence" and her excitement makes everything exciting for them. Crow added that the track is a combination of "poetic splendour" lyrics sung by a "voice of an angel."
Movish also commended the rising pop star as she was able to "carry the visual."
Speaking about her future in the music industry, Movish is excited about what's in store for fans as she would be delivering "all that she has to offer."
Indy Yellich Reveals What It's Like to Be Compared With Lorde
Lorde is undoubtedly one of the biggest pop stars in the music scene since she released her debut single "Royals" and now, her little sister is speaking out about being compared to the "Solar Power" songstress.
When asked if it's either hard or easy for her to be working in the industry because she's the sister of someone famous, the singer said it's a "help" because when she needs advice, she knows where to go. (via The Edge)
Regarding their comparisons, Indy said she's not scared of being compared because they are two different "entities."
