Selena Gomez braves many things throughout her career, but one of the most notable things she's facing is her mental health, and now she is facing a new concern.

The 30-year-old singer opened up about her dreams of becoming a parent, and how it might prove to be a little more difficult than anyone could expect due to her medication.

In her interview with Rolling Stone, she admitted that the likelihood of her not being able to carry her own child due to her bipolar medication was painful to admit because "that's a very big, big, present thing [her] my life."

However, in recent years, there have been more avenues and options people can explore should they want to have children, and this is something she has definitely considered because she then said, "however if I'm meant to have them, I will."

According to reports, "bipolar medications during pregnancy pose an increased risk of birth defects in the first trimester."

Humble

In 2020, via an Instagram Live with Miley Cyrus, she revealed that she discovered her mental illness when she visited McLean Hospital in Massachusetts.

Gomez has been more candid about her bouts with mental health. Afterall, every one was going to learn about it and maybe even see clips of it through her upcoming documentary, "Selena Gomez: My Mind and Me."

Given the title, it will definitely explore and expound more on her experiences as a singer and beauty brand mogul struggling with her mental health.

"I think there's something over me that is maybe my bipolar that kind of just keeps me humble - in a dark way," she said.

"My psychiatrist really guided me. But I had to detox, essentially, from the medications I was on," she shared, "I had to learn how to remember certain words. I would forget where I was when we were talking."

She also shared that it took her a while to accept that she was bipolar and she has to work towards learning how to deal with it "because it wasn't going to go away."

Since she began her battle with her mental health, she has reportedly been to four treatment centers.

Gomez was born in Grand Prairie, Texas, and she has multiple awards and recognitions under her belt. Aside from being a singer and songwriter, she is also an actress and a producer.

She is the founder and creator of the beauty brand, Rare Beauty. The brand advocates for vegan and cruety-free make-up products.
