Takeoff's death revealed the heartbreaking issue that society currently faces.
The hip-hop industry was left shocked after news about Takeoff's unexpected death emerged. The rapper was the person Houston police referred to as the sole fatality during a shooting in downtown Houston. Two others sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
Aside from feeling the pain after losing Takeoff, fans were also enraged as photos and videos of him bleeding out have been shared repetitively online.
Rolling Stone recently published a piece, titled "Right After Takeoff's Death, Gruesome Videos Spread Like Wildfire," which addressed the sad truth about the release of videos and photos of Takeoff's body.
"Takeoff's tragic death, and the subsequent videos that followed, illustrate the worst of our culture's obsession with celebrities and violence. In many ways, we make it apparent that most of a star's worth comes from their work, stripping their humanity. And now, even in death, fans still clamor for one last piece," the article reads.
The post-shooting videos and photos have been reposted on several social media sites since Takeoff's death, with some of the clips already reaching a million mark. Other videos on YouTube have over 100,000 views.
Even Gillie Da Kid posted an Instagram video expressing his disappointment as people took advantage of Takeoff instead of sending messages of condolences to his family.
Fans also called out those who posted and reposted the materials online, and they urged everyone to refrain from sharing them as a sign of respect to the bereaved family members.
