The recent release of Selena Gomez's documentary, "My Mind and Me," saw a different side of the singer, the vulnerable side which she did not often show her fans.
In her interview with the magazine, she revealed, I never fit in with a cool group of girls that were celebrities. My only friend in the industry really is Taylor [Swift], so I remember feeling like I didn't belong."
This seemingly innocent comment has led to speculation after speculation, with the most talked about one being that she and Francia Raisa, the actress and friend who donated a kidney to the singer, are no longer besties.
However, it seems like Gomez is having none of it. She commented on a TikTok video that speculated on the pair's fallout, "Sorry I didn't mention every person I know."
This comes after Gomez's quote posted on E! News, to which Raisa commented, "interesting."
The comment has since been deleted, but several screenshots have been posted on social media, and it has led fans straight to Raisa's Instagram account only for them to see that the actress was no longer following the "Rare" singer. According to the Daily Mail UK, Gomez still follows Raisa.
History
When Gomez announced her bout with Lupus, an autoimmune disease in 2017, Raisa's name was constantly brought up as she had been the one to donate a kidney to the singer.
Gomez event took to Instagram to share a picture of herself holding Raisa's hand, lying on hospital beds.
"There aren't words to describe how I can possibly thank my beautiful friend Francia Raisa. She gave me the ultimate gift and sacrifice by donating her kidney to me. I am incredibly blessed. I love you so much sis."
However, news of the pair's fallout came after the kidney donation. Reports say that Raisa was taking an issue with the singer's "unhealthy lifestyle," including her consumption of alcohol after the surgery. In 2021, they reportedly reconciled.
On the other hand, some fans pointed out that Gomez was referring to friends in the music industry, which Raisa is not a part of.
"I didn't know Francia did music, I thought she was an actress," a fan wrote.
"Because you aren't industry friends? Selena literally calls you her sister. If you check the actual interview Selena is clearly implying her social circle of pop girls. Why does Selena constantly need to keep reminding you of the place you hold in her life publicly?" another tweeted.
