The Music Man has officially postponed their Broadway closing date.
It looks like there might just be a little bit less drama here in River City. The well loved show, The Music Man, has been playing on Broadway for several months. The show stars stage veterans Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster in the leading roles of the revival. The show has been playing at the iconic Winter Garden Theatre.
For those that are still unfamiliar with the Broadway classic, The Music Man follows the story of a con-artist who comes to a new town to perform a new con and, while there, finds himself head-over-heels in love with a law-abiding citizen.
The show officially opened on February 10th of this year. While the show has faced a series of set backs due to Covid-19, the production has persevered. It has been well received by large audiences and is giving people the bought of very much needed Broadway nostalgia theatre goers everywhere have been craving.
Originally, the show had set its closing date for the first day of the new year. However, it has now been announced that the show will continue to run through the first few weeks of 2023. The Music Man has set its closing date for January 15th of 2023. With this extended date, the show will have had a Broadway run that lasted five days over eleven months.
