Jimmie Allen will miss out on performing on one of the biggest nights in country music history, as he announced that he would not be able to perform at the 2022 CMA Awards tonight.
The 37-year-old country music singer expressed his regrets and apologies via social media, "I was looking forward to performing with my friends [Zec Brown Band] and [Marcus King] at the [CMA] Awards,"
"Unfortunately, I'm under the weather and won't be able to. I look forward to watching them and other performers tonight," he wrote.
Allen was set to perform "Out in the Middle" with fellow country music artists Zac Brown Band and Marcus King, People reports.
"Out in the Middle" is a song off Zac Brown Band's "The Comeback" album, released earlier this year. The band, which consists of Zac Brown, Coy Bowles, Clay Cook, Daniel de los Reyes, Matt Mangano, Jimmy De Martini, Chris Fryar, John Driskell Hopkins, and Caroline Jones, had enlisted the help of Allen and King to perform their single.
Health Concern
While Allen did not disclose exactly what made him feel sick, his fans were supportive of his decision nonetheless.
Support and love poured into the replies on his Twitter account, "Awe shucks. Well, I hope you feel better. Get some rest! Prayers sent your way!" A fan wrote.
"I hope you get well soon. I was looking so forward to seeing you this evening. Get lots of rest, prayers coming your way, friend," another replied.
Other fans expressed their disappointment, and told the country music singer to bounce back, as they hoped to see him back on the road with Carrie Underwood for her "Denim & Rhinestones" tour.
Allen is currently on tour with Underwood, with a show lined up for Nov. 12 at Moline III. As of this writing, there is no word on how his illness might affect her performance on tour.
Despite not disclosing the illness and its severity, a few weeks ago, Allen opened up about his struggles with his mental health.
He revealed that he struggles with bipolar depression, "Music has always been my go-to, but there are times I can't get out of my head long enough to write."
Allen has been vocal about his bouts with his illness, noting that "every day is a constant battle." He even wrote a song about his experience with his illness.
"'Untitled Song' wrote this song about how I feel a lot of the time. Mental illness is something I have struggled with my entire life. [...] To everyone struggling, remember you're not alone, and it's okay to say you're not okay."
