Britney Spears' father Jaime Spears and his legal team have attempted to humiliate her by releasing her private medical information to the public, according to her attorney Mathew Rosengart.
According to court documents from a hearing on October 26 reviewed by Radar, Rosengart filed a motion for sanctions and contempt against Jamie and his attorneys, alleging that they violated court orders with "bad faith litigation tactics'' and abuse of the discovery process in an attempt to have her testify.
Jamie and his attorneys were criticized by Judge Brenda Penny for bringing medical data in a hearing last month, despite the fact that the information had "previously been sealed by earlier court orders."
In the long-running case involving the 40-year-old Grammy-winning musician, the judge deemed Jaime and his legal team's action very improper and contrary to court instructions.
In light of the parties' negotiated protective order, Mr. Spears and his counsel offer no rationale for their decision to file previous sealed documents or to oppose the current motion, the judge noted.
Rosengart told the court that the move would have violated the "Oops!... I Did It Again" singer's constitutional and common law privacy rights, as part of what he termed Jaime's "scorched earth litigation campaign against Britney Spears" since he was suspended from overseeing her conservatorship in September 2021.
Since then, according to Rosengart, Jaime has attempted to humiliate Britney and run up large legal fees to charge her estate, while wrongly attempting to "vindicate" himself through this case (a futile task given his record as a conservator).
Jamie's attempt to seal her medical records including "important, confidential information" was resisted by the..."Baby One More Time" performer and her attorney, according to this source.
Rosengart requested the court to consider contempt proceedings and impose a $20,000 fine on Jamie Spears and his attorneys. In recently revealed court documents, he claimed that Jamie Spears refused to answer even the most basic questions during a deposition he gave on August 11.
He stated that Jaime did not comply with court orders to provide the needed papers, text messages, and emails. Britney described the'serious mental trauma' she endured as a result of her conservatorship earlier this week.
According to her, she is unable to breathe normally when looking at people's faces. The pop icon, whose contentious conservatorship was terminated after 13 years in November of last year, revealed on Twitter on Wednesday that she had incurred nerve damage on the right side of her body due to improper breathing.
