Rab Noakes, popularly known for being a renowned Scottish singer/songwriter and senior music producer at the BBC, has died at the age of 75.

Singer Barbara Dickson took to her official Twitter account to share a photo of herself and the singer with the caption that confirms his death.

"My dear and old friend Rab Noakes has died suddenly in hospital today. I am shocked. We had so much in common," she wrote.

She added that both of them loved the Everly Brothers, the Flying Burrito Brothers, love songs, and traditional music, before concluding her statement with, "Sleep well, Rab. May you rest in peace. Bx."

As of this writing, details surrounding the cause of his death aren't available publicly.

According to BBC News, the musician was a member of Stealers Wheel, but throughout his music career, he also ventured out into being a solo artist who has 20 albums under his catalog. He also performed in various festivals in the past.

Rab Noakes Life and Career

According to AllMusic, the songwriter was born on May 13, 1947, in St. Andrews, Fife, but he spent his early days in Cupar.

Aside from being a former member of Stealers Wheel, he first worked with Lindisfarne, a band popularly known for their songs "Turn a Deaf Ear" from their debut album "Nicely Out of Tune."

He embarked on his solo music career in 1970 by releasing the record "Do You See The Lights" featuring some of the known musicians in the industry like his ex-partner Robin McKidd on electric guitar, Ronnie Rae on the bass, and many more.

The project had three songs: "Together Forever," "Too Old To Die," and "Somebody Counts On Me."

Later in life, he worked with BBC Radio Scotland as a senior producer for music programs, however, he didn't continue his career path with the media giant as he went on to establish his own production company called Neon along with Stephanie Pordage.

One of his most significant releases was the 2015 record "I'm Walkin' Here." Considered his 19th album, the project told his life story of being a singer and songwriter.

His last music project was "Welcome to Anniversaryville" in 2018 released under his own record label.
