Axl Rose has been performing since the mid-1980s - and his look is already trademark. Who thought he can sport a different hairstyle and whole different look?
As part of their latest tour, Guns N' Roses's frontman stormed the stage at Singapore's National Stadium looking dramatically different from his glory days.
Axl, whose birth name is William Bruce Rose Jr., wore a black graphic t-shirt and ripped jeans while performing alongside fellow musician Slash.
Axl's long hair of the past had been replaced with a practical haircut, and his signature bandana was nowhere to be found. On his left hand, the iconic rock star wore a black glove, and he accessorized with various pieces of jewelry. Elsewhere, legendary guitarist Slash rocked out in a t-shirt and tattered jeans, appearing to have scarcely aged a day over the years.
Slash had the audience eating out of the palms of his hands while wearing his signature top hat and aviator sunglasses. Guns N' Roses are experiencing a resurgence, having released their first "new" song in thirteen years last year.
According to Rolling Stone, it was an official audio version of the song "Absurd" that they performed live at Fenway Park in Boston on August 3.
Prior to Singapore, Guns N' Roses were on a world tour that comprised North American and European events. After touching down in Perth on Sunday for their mega stadium tour, Guns N' Roses will perform in Australia on subsequent days.
Australian punk bands The Chats and Cosmic Psychos will provide support. The live recording of the song, which was formerly unpublished and titled Silkworms, has been renamed Absurd.
The band will perform at Perth's Optus stadium on November 18th. On November 22, they will go to Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane. The band will then perform at Metricon Stadium on the Gold Coast on November 24, followed by Accor Stadium in Sydney on November 27. The band's last tour gigs will take place at Adelaide Oval on November 29 and Melbourne Cricket Ground on December 3.
Guns N' Roses still have "a few epic" songs to release. Wednesday on Eddie Trunk's Trunk Nation SiriusXM radio show, the top-hatted guitarist discussed the band's impending touring and song release plans, as well as his desire to make a new album.
Last year, Guns N' Roses released two new songs, "Absurd" and "Hard Skool," which included Axl Rose, Duff McKagan, and Slash for the first time since their 1994 cover of "Sympathy for the Devil" by the Rolling Stones. Both tracks originate from the sessions for Chinese Democracy and feature newly recorded parts by Slash and McKagan.
