Ticket Master has once again broken the hearts of fans everywhere.
The announcement of the Taylor Swift's The Eras Tour was received with great joy and anticipation by Swifites everywhere. This is the star's first tour in five years, and fans have been counting their quarters, waiting for the day of this next announcement. While some were able to secure tickets to the exciting event, many fans were left heartbroken by no fault of their own.
Enter Ticket Master, "It's me. Hi. I'm the problem it's me."
The ticketing platform has been been one of the most problematic sales sites for many years, but with The Eras Tour, the service has truly outdone itself. They released millions of pre-release fan codes for the tour: more codes than there were seats available on the tour. They released these codes that many would go unused.
Because if the world knows anything about Taylor Swift fans, it's how chill and laid back and not obsessed with everything she does ever they are (insert AGGRESSIVE eye-roll).
The codes oversold the concert, leaving many fans on waitlists from pre-sale alone. Finally, many fans were alerted that, even though they were completely on the ball, they did not receive tickets for the show. Ticket Master has canceled its normal sales period.
Yeah, it's bad.
Ticket Master is an incredibly problematic site that has been discussed by many. It has a monopoly over the tour ticketing industry. The problematic nature of the platform was dissected in depth in March of 2022 by John Oliver. While the issues with the site are known to the general public, nothing has been changed.
However, as is the way with Taylor Swift, a new, razor focused attention has finally been drawn to Ticket Master. The angry masses are now larger and louder. If there is a fan-base with the most organized, analytical, argumentative point of view, it is the Swifites. Ticket Master better watch out.
Taylor Swift has yet to comment on this Ticket Master turbulence. Without giving anyone false hope, this does give us....well...hope. Swift has proven time and time again that she is in it for her fans. She works to do her best for those that support her. We are sure the Mastermind herself is coming up with some sort of plan to counteract this. (But, again, we are only guessing!)
We need an end to Ticket Master.
