The Christmas season has OFFICIALLY begun!

Thanksgiving has come and gone. We joined with our families and friends, ate good food, and expressed our thanks and love to the important people in our lives. While we have proven through a series of various articles that Thanksgiving music DOES in fact exist (and it is great!), we all know that when it comes to holiday discographies, Christmas takes the cake.

While, of course, anyone can listen to anything at anytime. Some people start jamming out to Christmas tunes the second October comes to its ghostly close. We don't judge.

Sure, you may still have some left overs from last night's festivities, but the day after Thanksgiving is the day that most would agree that you are not allowed to tell someone to turn down their Christmas music on the grounds that it is too early (and, if you did, you would be a real Grinch!)

The song you choose to kick off the holiday season is a celebratory and fun moment. While these may not even be your favorite holiday tunes, these songs have a way of hearkening in an exciting season to come.

Here are seven songs you MUST listen to in order to kick off your Christmas season!

1. It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas

What better way to kick off the beginning of the Christmas season than with the classic It's Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas? This song is the perfect entree into a world full of holiday cheer. As the title of the song states, it sings of a world that is warming up (or rather, cooling down) into the merriment and wonder of the magical season. If is not the first song you listen to this year, it at the very least needs to be one of the first.

2. Jingle Bell Rock

The bells ringing at the beginning of Jingle Bell Rock immediately give everyone the joyful anticipation of Christmas on its way. Jingle Bell Rock is the perfect song to get you into the decorating mood this holiday season. It is a song that will immediately make you realize that you DEFINITELY have a handful of gifts that you should probably get to buying...like, right now.

3. This Christmas BY DIONNE WARWICK

Yes, for a few of these seasonal welcoming songs, it ABSOLUTELY matters which rendition of the song you listen to. Such is the case with the song This Christmas. To welcome in the Christmas season in the most celebratory way, you must listen to the song sung by the ever iconic Dionne Warwick. This beautiful song, naming the wonderful, warming elements of the season we all know and love, strikes the perfect cord with Warwick's spectacular voice. It will put you in the Christmas.

4. Sleigh Ride

Sleigh Ride

is one of the most well known Christmas songs for a reason. If you want to start off your holiday season on the right foot, you need to jam out to this song today. Hop into this magical sleigh ride and be instantly taken on a journey through the various wonders of the wonder-filled season. We promise you will quickly come to see that it IS lovely weather for a sleigh ride together (regardless of what the actual weather in your area may be!)

5. Wonderful Christmas Time

If you want to be absolutely sure that you will simply be having an absolutely wonderful Christmas time, boy oh boy, do we have the song for you! An early must-listen-to of the season is certainly Wonderful Christmas Time. This exciting, synth filled number welcomes in the holiday spirit with a fun beat and a bopping 1980s vibe (even though, yes, the song was released in 1979, but, much like many are with the celebration of the Christmas season, the song was ahead of its time!)

6. Deck the Halls

One of the first things you need to do when preparing for the Christmas season is OBVIOUSLY decorate for it! It's time to deck your halls, and, for that reason, Deck the Halls, absolutely needs to be a day one listen to for your holiday cheer. It will motivate you to turn your home into a winter wonderland!

7. Jingle Bells BY FRANK SINATRA

This is another singer-specific number. While many singers throughout time have taken on the ever-iconic Jingle Bells, the version by Frank Sinatra is THE number you need to listen to to ring in this Christmas season. When it comes to the iconic song, you simply can't beat Old Blue Eyes. Why would you start off your Christmas season with anything other than the absolute best?

Merry Christmas Season! We hope you have a lovely day that gets you into the holiday spirit that carries you through the winter holiday and beyond!
