Irene Cara has been receiving heartfelt tributes after her death, and one of the people grieving her said she was her inspiration in the music industry.

The music world was left shocked when Cara's publicist, Judith A. Moose, revealed that the singer passed away in her Florida home. She delivered the news through a post on Twitter on Saturday.

The statement, however, did not reveal Irene Cara's cause of death, but Moose asked everyone to respect the family's privacy as they process the grief.

Fans and notable musicians already paid respect to her and honored her legacy - one of them was Mariah Carey.

On her Twitter page, Carey shared a screenshot of the film "Fame" featuring Cara alongside the caption: "I put on the original 'Fame' in honor of the late great Irene Cara. Such an inspiration to so many, especially to me. Her beauty and talent is awe-inspiring in this movie. Rest In Peace, Dear Angel."

The late singer's song, "Out Here On My Own," also played in the background.

The official Twitter page of Cara reported the tweet, extending the family's gratitude to Carey. Moose told the "All I Want For Christmas Is You" hitmaker that Cara always spoke about her and felt honored that she saw her as her inspiration in the music industry.

Although Cara is no longer here to speak highly of Carey, her publicist told her that the "Flashdance... What a Feeling" crooner was proud of her and her accomplishments.

Irene Cara's Cause of Death Update

As of press time, details about Cara's cause of death are still yet to be confirmed. Her family, however, revealed that potential medical answers might be known once the autopsy has been completed.

In the past few days, talks about what led to her death have been a hot topic as people created a buzz. Some said she probably developed illnesses and health issues before her passing since she was already 63. Others said a vaccine might be the culprit.

Her representative cleared up the rumors and urged everyone not to blame vaccines.

Cara rose to fame in the 1980 musical, "Fame," where she starred as Coco Hernandez and sang the song's title track. Her career skyrocketed even more when she recorded "Flashdance... What A Feeling" for the 1983 "Flashdance."

Both projects made her secure nominations and awards from the Grammy Awards and Oscars.
