Twenty-one years today, George Harrison of The Beatles died.

On Nov. 29, 2001, Harrison took his last breath following his brave battle against cancer. His longtime friend, Gavin De Becker, delivered the news through a statement to The Associated Press (via CNN).

Harrison went through a lot in the years leading to his death. He was also diagnosed with a non-small cell lung cancer which eventually spread to his brain.

Aside from his health issues, he also dealt with an intruder who left him with more than 40 stab wounds.

Despite seeing these negative things in his lifetime, the late The Beatles member offered his heartfelt last words before his death - something Ringo Starr heard.

The Beatles' George Harrison's Last Words

In an article shared by Express, it was revealed that Starr heard his late bandmate's last words.

"While he was being ill and I had come to see him, I was going to Boston 'cos my daughter had a brain tumor. It was the last words I heard him say actually," he said.


Starr then revealed that the musician uttered "Everything else can wait, but the search for God cannot wait, and love one another" before his death.

Recalling the moment still makes him emotional, eventhough years have already passed. Starr was there for him from the time Harrison started his treatment until his health deteriorated.

Aside from him, the other surviving member of The Beatles, Paul McCartney, expressed his heartbreak upon hearing the news.

McCartney said he was devastated upon hearing the development despite knowing about his struggles for a long time. While grieving, he assured the fans that Harrison passed away peacefully.

Harrison's wife, Olivia, also heard his heartfelt final words to her.

In an interview with The Telegraph (via Far Out Magazine), she revealed that the musician comforted her for the last time by assuring her she would be fine.

In Marc Shapiro's book "Beatle Wives: The Women the Men We Loved Fell in Love With," Olivia revealed that she had to make herself stronger to be able to walk on her road.

She included Harrison's final words to her in her statement in which she confirmed his death.

Years after his death, she told the news outlet that Harrison was right as she felt fine and okay. Still, she revealed she would always miss him until her death.
