Smashing Pumpkins' Billy Corgan spoke highly of the band that reportedly "sounds like God."

The rock industry officially welcomed Corgan in 1985. He has been enjoying popularity both as a member of Smashing Pumpkins and as a soloist.

But before all those things happened to him, Corgan was actually inspired by another rock band.

During his recent interview with KROQ's Nicole Alvarez, the Smashing Pumpkins frontman recalled the time when he saw a legendary heavy metal band when he was 8 years old.

His uncle, who died at a young age, was a drummer who owned rock records. He eventually bumped into one of those - Black Sabbath's "Master of Reality."

The 1971 album caught his attention, that he asked his grandmother if he could play it. Although she did not want to allow him because his uncle might get mad, Corgan talked her into it and eventually got her approval.

He then opened up about hearing the first song, "Sweet Leaf."

"You know, you hear the Ozzy cough or whatever, and then that sound comes in. And I was just like, it made me feel as if I was staring into the cosmos or something. I don't know how else to explain other than I felt this kinda sense of agape. Like, 'Wow, this is what God sounds like.' So it's the 8-year-old version of what God sounds like, but I've never found anything cooler," he said, as quoted by Ultimate Classic Rock and Culture.

Although he already has a successful career with Smashing Pumpkins, he reportedly continues to look up to Black Sabbath's sound, especially those he heard when he was younger.

Billy Corgan To Dominate The World Is A Vampire Festival With Interpol

Corgan's success will continue as his band has been tapped to headline the "World Is A Vampire" Festival.

Far Out Magazine and more news outlets confirmed that the rock band would collaborate with Interpol to spearhead the brand-new music festival in Mexico City from March 6 to 9.

Aside from Smashing Pumpkins and Interpol, fans will also witness performances by Deafheaven, Peter Hook, The Warning, Chelsea Wolfe, and Turnstile.

Those who wish to see them live secured tickets during the presale and general sale tickets earlier this week.

This will come after the band's tour in North America with Jane's Addiction.
