After postponing their New Castle gig last Friday, Dec. 2, 2022, Placebo has officially broken down the unfortunate news to their waiting fans.

Alternative British Rock band Placebo had been making waves in the United Kingdom since the mid-90s. Collaborating with artists like Justin Warfield, Michael Stipe, Alisson Mosshart, and even David Bowie, Placebo has surely made a mark in the British music scene for quite a while already.

In continuing their string of concerts in Europe and the United Kingdom, Placebo is set to embark on their last few shows in the country in the coming days.

However, because of an unfortunate incident, the band was forced to make some compromises to prioritize the health of one of its members.

Last Dec. 2, 2022, vocalist-guitarist Brian Molko penned a hefty apology to their loyal fans as they postponed their New Castle gig because he had been "gradually losing" his voice since their concert at O2 Academy Brixton.

While fans thought it would be a one-gig postponement only, the band has finally announced that the remaining dates of the United Kingdom and Ireland tour will be postponed too.

"It is with a very heavy heart, great sadness and regret that we have to announce the postponement of our remaining UK and Ireland dates," the band said in a statement.

The canceled Placebo UK and Ireland concerts are the following:

  • Dec. 5, 2022, at Dublin 3 Arena
  • Dec. 7, 2022, at Cambridge Corn Exchange
  • Dec. 8, 2022, at Birmingham 02 Academy

"We had sincerely and perhaps optimistically hoped that, with some rest, Brian would make a speedier recovery but this has unfortunately not been the case. Brian saw a doctor again this morning and has been advised that he is not fit to continue the tour and needs complete rest," they furthered.

As for the rescheduled Placebo UK and Ireland tour dates, the band has affirmed to their fans that they "will do everything we can to get these shows rescheduled as soon as possible."

"We are so grateful for the wonderful support you have shown us on this tour and for your good wishes and understanding during this difficult period. We are so sorry that we can't complete the remaining shows, we tried! We will be back soon. Thank you all for your patience and understanding," the statement reads.

Placebo UK and Ireland 2022 tour tickets were advised to await further announcements for the refund instructions.
