Way before Halsey became a famous singer who has her own fanbase, she was once a simple teenager who was obsessed with One Direction. More recently, an old video of her resurfaced showing how dedicated she was to her fandom.
Fans have been sharing their thoughts on "The Haylor Song" on Twitter as the forgotten video is celebrating its 10th anniversary today.
"halsey returning to tumblr on the 10 year anniversary ish of the haylor song is so," one wrote.
"y'all really weren't there when halsey used to be se7enteenblack on tumblr lmfao the haylor song? we need reparations fr," another fan wrote.
Since newer fans don't have an idea about the song, many have been questioning its origin; what is "The Haylor Song?"
According to a user named horizonimage who shared the actual video on Halsey's subreddit, the backstory of the song began when the singer, whose real name is Ashley Nicolette Frangipane, was only 16 years old in 2012.
It was one of the covers she posted on her previous YouTube channel. The song was a satirical take on Taylor Swift's hit song "I Knew You Were Trouble" as she was a huge fan of One Direction at the time.
The user concluded their post by saying it's heartwarming to see their idols' old videos as teenagers as it gives a background of their humble beginnings.
As of this writing, Halsey has not publicly commented on her resurfaced video.
Halsey Loves One Direction
Halsey was once a One Direction fan as seen on her previously resurfaced video where she confessed her love for the British boyband.
In a short clip that shows a young Halsey sitting in front of a red backdrop, the "Colors" hitmaker admitted that she loves the band and once cried over them for "16 hours."
"I'm not ashamed to admit that, I'll tell anybody that I love One Direction a lot. I love them as people, I love their music, I love their personalities, I think they're funny," she said in the 43-second video. (via J-14)
The singer then revealed how she discovered the band, consisting of Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne, saying she saw a GIF of them sitting on a stair set.
Initially, she thought they were a group of funny boys on YouTube then she googled them only to discover their live performances.
