Jill Scott is finally heading back on tour for the anniversary of her debut album "Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1" after being shut down by the Covid pandemic lockdown.

After a nearly three-year wait, the soul musician announced that her anniversary tour is coming in 2023, and tickets will go on sale soon.

Scott announced the exciting news in a press release: "My band and I were so excited three years ago, but that damn COVID shut us down,

Now, we outside! Come see me. Come feel again. Relive your favorite moments. Ya'll ready to settle down and get with this?!? It's a lot of love here."

The anniversary tour was supposed to happen in 2020, 20 years after she released her highly-acclaimed debut album in July 2000.

This comes after popular demand, because the singer-songwriter joked, "Based off of all the Instagram comments, and the emails we've been receiving, I'm going to go on tour."

"Who Is Jill Scott? Words and Sounds Vol. 1" is Scott's pivotal album, it was nominated for Best R&B Album at the Grammy Awards in 2001 and put the soul singer on the musical map.

According to reports, the album went double platinum and earned her a Grammy nod for Best New Artist.

Popular Demand

Scott revealed some juicy details about the upcoming anniversary tour, including how the setlist will go and the vibe of the shows.

"We were going to do the entire album from beginning to end because people really seemed to love it and we wanted to present it that way," she told Today.

"It's great musicianship. It's a lot of energy and sincerity oozing all over the stage. I'm really excited for everyone who wants to sing along."

Despite being very excited and pumped to be back on stage and perform for her fans, Scott admitted that she had to prepare not just mentally, but also physically for the tour.

"I'm terrified. It matters to me so I'm nervous. It's been two years," she shared. I haven't really been on many stages, so there's a lot of preparation internally as well as externally. I gotta get on the treadmill and sing on it."

She added that bringing fans a fantastic performance means the world to her and to them, as it will be supposed to be a momentous tour for everyone.

"To have touched so many people - and the age brackets. Some people bring their 5-year-olds and there's 80-year-olds and that means a lot as a song writer. It means a lot as a vocalist and as a girl from North Philly. It matters."
