Kirstie Alley Dead: Real Cause of Death, John Travolta Tribute Revealed

Emmy-winning actress Kirstie Alley recently passed away at 71 years old.

The Associated Press initially broke the news, referring to a post that Alley's children posted on her Twitter account on her behalf. Meanwhile, it was Alley's manager Donovan Daughtry who confirmed the veracity of the statement in an email to the publication.

"We are sad to inform you that our incredible, fierce, and loving mother has passed away after a battle with cancer, only recently discovered," the statement reads.

Based on the recent revelation, Kirstie Alley's real cause of death was a gruesome battle with cancer, something that had been only discovered recently. Per People Magazine, it was a Kirstie Alley had colon cancer.

"She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with a certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lie ahead. As iconic as she was on screen, she was an even more amazing mother and grandmother," the post continued to read.

Alley was a hallmark of American television comedy. She was nominated eight times at the Primetime Emmy Awards - five of them were for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for her show "Cheers." In 1991, she won the award for her third time being nominated, and a Golden Globe for Best Actress in a Television Series - Comedy or Musical for the same show in the same year.

She also clinched her second Emmy as an Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Special on 1994's "David's Mother. Her last nomination was in 1998 for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Comedy Series for "Veronica's Closet."

"Our mother's zest and passion for life, her children, grandchildren and her many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and leave us inspired to live life to the fullest just as she did. We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy at this difficult time," the statement continued.

Meanwhile, her on-screen partner, John Travolta, whom she starred opposite in "Look Who's Talking" penned a short but sweet tribute to her on Instagram.

"Kirstie was one of the most special relationships I've ever had. I love you Kirstie. I know we will see each other again," he said in a post along with a photo of a young Kirstie Alley and the two of them together.

Alley might have been an actress a relatively large portion of the time, but she does appear on the seventh season of "The Masked Singer," disguised as The Mammoth. She performed songs like "Walkin' After Midnight," "The Shoop Shoop Song," and even "Me Too" by Meghan Trainor.
